What are production labels in tspoonlab, how are they generated, and what do they do?
Production labels in tspoonlab are physical identifiers that carry QR codes generated directly from a finished production order. These labels automatically link the recipe's information: the assigned internal batch (year.month.day), the recipe's expiry date, the cook responsible for the production, and the allergens declared on the technical sheet.
By sticking these labels on the vacuum bags or containers of your preparations, kitchen staff can scan the QR code with a mobile device or an integrated scanner in later stages of the operation (such as stock counts, waste logging, transfers, or sales), guaranteeing recipe traceability with no manual error and fast stock counting.
How to generate and print labels from a production order in tspoonlab
To print labels from the production module in tspoonlab, you must have already created and finished the production order for your recipe. You can also print labels for unfinished productions, but these will not show the production batch number. Follow this sequence:
Go to the "Management" module, then open the "Production" section.
Locate the order for the recipe you want to label after checking the date in the calendar. If it is not started and/or finished, click "Start" and/or "Finish" so the label carries the complete batch information.
In the top-right corner of the production order, click the "Labels" button.
In the print-customization pop-up, configure the parameters you need:
Production: the recipe name is generated by default.
Comment: you can add a comment for each production.
Expiry: check or adjust the expiry date calculated from the shelf life set on the recipe's technical sheet.
Made by: the user's name is generated by default, but with the "+" button you can add other employees from your database.
Batch format: by default the system applies the internal batch assigned to the production order in year.month.day format.
Print: indicate how many physical units you want to print to split the total production volume.
Label for: add the weight of each container to complete the total kilos of your production.
List button: right next to your production's total kg there is a bulleted-list button. It opens a new pop-up where you can enter exactly how many grams each container holds and generate more precise labels with the built-in calculator.
Include allergens: tick the box if you want the printed label to show the allergens present in the recipe.
Number labels: tick the box to number the labels and speed up packing.
Click the "Print" button.
📌 Note: Labels are 36 mm × 89 mm by default. If you want to customize their size and/or information, contact your support advisor to request a quote.
Using production QR labels in your day-to-day operation at tspoonlab
When you scan production QR labels in tspoonlab, kitchen staff significantly speed up daily stock logging in the following processes:
Stock counts: when taking inventory, the operator can count stock quickly from a mobile device or tablet by scanning the QR labels.
Expeditions: when running expeditions, the operator can scan the QR label of the dispatched production from a mobile device or tablet. In FEFO mode (First-Expired, First-Out) it retrieves the batch and expiry.
Manual sales: when sending recipes to other locations in the group or to external customers, scanning the QR label automatically assigns the real outgoing batch on the document.
