How to merge duplicate products in tspoonlab
Avoiding duplicate products in your database is essential to keep clean control of stock and costs. Before creating a new product, use the search bar to make sure it is not already registered under a similar name, a spelling mistake or a different accent.
If you find that two records exist for the same product and both hold valuable information (such as purchases, suppliers or associated recipes), follow these steps to transfer all the information to the correct product and delete or hide the duplicate without losing data:
Transfer suppliers and purchases
To start fixing the duplicate-product error, go to the "Offer" tab and select "Ingredients".
In the search bar, locate the duplicate product (the one you are going to delete) and open its record.
Scroll down to the "Suppliers" section and click the three-dot dropdown menu for that section.
Select the "Move to another ingredient" option, choose the final product you want to keep in the search box, and click "Ok".
Replace the product in recipes and dishes
Within the record of the same product you are going to delete, go to the "In recipes & dishes" sections.
Click the three-dot dropdown menu on the recipe and select "Change to another product".
Select the final product you want to keep and click "Ok". Select every recipe or dish where the product is repeated by ticking the corresponding checkbox.
Delete the duplicate product
Once the duplicate product is completely empty of suppliers and recipes, go to the large three-dot menu in the top-right corner of its main record.
Select the "Delete product" option and clic "Ok" to confirm the action.
📢 Warning: By following this process, you ensure that the entire purchase history and active recipe costings migrate to the correct ingredient, avoiding mismatches in your day-to-day management.
