What are locations and how to manage them?
In tspoonlab, locations are physical areas within a store (such as a walk-in fridge, pantry, or cellar) that let you organize ingredients by their real physical position. This makes inventory control easier and improves stock management.
For example, you can create locations like "Bar" and "Cellar" within a "Drinks" store. You can then count by zone while the app automatically calculates the overall total.
How to create locations in tspoonlab
This video guides you step by step through creating locations in tspoonlab. After the video, you'll find the detailed steps to create and manage them.
Guide to creating and managing a location in a store
Create a new location in stores
Go to "Management" and select "Stores" from the main menu in tspoonlab. Then choose the store where you want to set up locations.
Go to the "Locations" section. Click the three-dot menu next to the search bar and select "Add location".
Enter the location name. You can also add a short description to identify it more clearly in your operations.
Add or remove products within a location
Once the location is created, the next step is to assign the products that will be physically stored in that space.
Inside the store, go to the "Locations" section and select the location you want to manage. Click the three-dot menu to open the available options.
Select "Add products" or "Remove products" to open the search. From there you can select the products to assign to that location. You can also use the category or supplier filters to make searching easier.
📢 Important: Removing a product from a location does not delete the product from the store; it only unlinks it from that specific space.
To see the products assigned to a specific location, select the location and expand the red arrow. A list of all associated products will appear.
📌 Note: The same product can be in several locations at once, which streamlines operations and optimizes the inventory process.
Benefits and considerations of locations in stores
Using locations lets you organize your store more efficiently, run precise counts by zone, and optimize the use of available space. This improves ingredient traceability, supports internal audits, and reduces operational errors or losses.
