This article is for businesses that manage several Cost Centres in tspoonlab, such as restaurant groups, chains or companies with more than one site. To copy a supplier to another Cost Centre, you need edit permissions for the Suppliers module.
In tspoonlab, copying a supplier means creating an exact, independent copy of that supplier at the Cost Centre you choose. From then on, the original supplier and the copy work completely independently, with no relationship between them: changes you make to one aren't reflected in the other.
How do you copy a supplier to another Cost Centre in tspoonlab?
To copy a supplier to another Cost Centre in tspoonlab, follow these steps from the Suppliers module.
Go to "Management" and then "Suppliers". Select the supplier you want to copy from the list, then click the three-dot menu in the top-right corner of the supplier's page and select "Copy supplier to another Cost Centre".
In the pop-up window, click the "Cost Centre" field and select the Cost Centre you want to copy the supplier to. Click "Copy" to confirm, or "Cancel" to exit without copying.
Switch to the destination Cost Centre with the "Cost Centres" selector in the top bar and go back to "Management" > "Suppliers". You'll see the copied supplier in the list, with the same name followed by "[Copy]" (for example, "LA FRUTERIA [Copy]").
📌 Note: the "[Copy]" name isn't final. You can rename the copy and edit the rest of its data at any time from its supplier page, just like with any other supplier
How is copying a supplier different from sharing or replicating it in tspoonlab?
Copying a supplier in tspoonlab differs from sharing it and from replicating it in whether any link remains with the original supplier once you've made the copy, and in which Cost Centre you can edit each one afterwards.
Copying vs sharing: when you copy a supplier, the copy and the original supplier are completely unlinked from the very first moment: each one lives in its own Cost Centre, with its own data, and changes to one don't affect the other. When you share a supplier, no copy is created: there's a single supplier, and its contact details and purchasing terms apply at every Cost Centre it's shared with, all at once.
Copying vs replicating: when you copy a supplier, no link remains between the original and the copy, so changes you make to one afterwards don't reach the other. When you replicate a supplier, on the other hand, the "child" Cost Centre keeps its link to the "parent" supplier and can pull its general data across whenever you need.
