tspoonFast: Recipes šŸ“–

Check your recipes and dishes from tspoonFast, adjust ingredient quantities for the production you need without doing calculations.

tspoonFast: check and adjust your recipes from a phone or tablet

In this article you’ll learn how to check your recipes and dishes from tspoonlab’s tspoonFast app, filter the list by type and family, adjust ingredient quantities according to the production you need without doing manual calculations, and export the record as a PDF to share with your team.

A recipe in tspoonlab can be a Recipe (a base or semi-prepared item used within other recipes, such as a sauce or a granola) or a Dish (the plate that reaches the customer). Both are checked from the same Recipes section in tspoonFast.

šŸ“Œ Note: Recipes and dishes are created and edited in tspoonBack; from tspoonFast you can only check them and adjust quantities to produce at scale. Learn how to create them in Create a dish (recipe costing) and Create and manage recipes.

Step by step to access and manage recipes in tspoonFast

Access your recipes in tspoonFast

  1. Go to "Recipes".

  2. The list of recipes opens by default, sorted alphabetically.

  3. To access the list of dishes, click "Recipes", which refers to the list you’re currently viewing, and select "Dishes".

Manage your recipes in tspoonFast

You can filter your recipes by family and adjust quantities to produce at scale. You can also export your recipes to send by email, WhatsApp, copy them, or print them.

  1. To filter by family, tap the "All" dropdown. A dropdown menu opens with all the recipe or dish families, depending on where you’re located.

  2. To see a recipe’s detail, select the recipe you want. You’ll be able to see its Image, Cost and Yield. Below, you’ll see the recipe’s composition with each ingredient and quantity, and the step by step if it has one. You can adjust the recipe’s quantity by clicking on its yield and adjusting the quantity. tspoonFast proportionally recalculates the quantity of each ingredient based on the new kg entered. For example, when going from 1 kg to 20 kg of Kaffir Lime Sugar, the Kaffir Lime goes from 20 g to 400 g automatically.

  3. The šŸ‘ icon next to an ingredient shows that that ingredient is itself a recipe with its own recipe. When an ingredient in a recipe (like Granola or Miso Sauce) has the eye icon next to its quantity, it means that ingredient isn’t a simple raw ingredient, but another recipe within tspoonlab. Tap the icon to open that recipe’s record and check its own ingredients and steps, without leaving the main recipe’s flow.

  4. From any recipe’s record, tap "Export" in the top-right corner to generate a PDF to share with your team, with the ingredients and preparation steps. From there you can send it by WhatsApp, by email, print it or copy it, depending on your device’s options.

šŸ’” Tip: Use the kg adjustment before a large production run to automatically calculate the quantity of each ingredient without doing the conversion by hand.

šŸ“¢ Important: Adjusting quantities in the recipe’s record is a temporary view and doesn’t save changes to the original recipe.
