What are production templates and how do they automate your kitchen routine?

tspoonlab production templates are automation tools designed to schedule and bulk-generate lists of recurring recipes, dishes and tasks. They avoid having to add recipe by recipe manually each day and are ideal for organising production on fixed days of the week or structuring the base tasks of the kitchenā€™s different departments. If, for example, you make bread, stocks and sauces every Monday, you can create a template to generate those productions automatically each week.

Step-by-step: create a production template from scratch

  1. Open the "Options" menu, at the top right, and open "Production templates".

  2. Go to the three-dot menu on the right of the screen and select "Add production template".

  3. Give it a representative name (for example: "Monday Productions" or "Weekly Fixed Hot Section"), then select the days of the week when this kitchen routine will be activated and repeated.

  4. Choose the calculation criterion for the item quantities:

    • Manual entry (recommended): generates the productions with no quantity assigned, so you can set the volume needed each day.

    • Difference with maximum stock: the system checks the storeā€™s real stock at that moment and automatically calculates the amount needed to reach the configured maximum stock.

  5. We recommend leaving "Generate automatically" off at first, keeping generation in manual mode to retain full control over the orders before they are consolidated in the general calendar.

  6. Click "OK" to create the base structure.

šŸ“¢ Attention: The "Difference from maximum stock" quantity criterion should only be used when store operations in tspoonlab are 100% applied. Check with support to find out whether you can use this criterion.

Step-by-step: add recipes, dishes and/or tasks to a production template

Once the production template is created, you must fill it with the recurring recipes, dishes and/or tasks you want to fix for every week. You can change the template at any time to add, remove or edit productions and tasks. To fill the production template, follow this step-by-step:

  1. In the empty production template, go to the "Productions and tasks" section and click the three-dot menu. Select "Edit productions" to add productions or "Edit tasks" to add tasks.

  2. Select the recurring recipes, dishes or tasks you want to add to your template. For recipes and dishes, the quantity they were registered with in the "Offer" module is set automatically. You can change it manually.

  3. Click "OK" to fix the recurring productions in your production template.

How to use tspoonlab production templates day to day

Once your structural templates are complete, putting them into your routine is quick:

  1. Go to the "Management" module in the top black bar, then click "Production" in the grey bar.

  2. After selecting the chosen date on the calendar on the left, click the three-dot menu and find the "Add template" option.

  3. A window opens where you can search your templates. Select the one you want, then "Select".

  4. Click "OK" so the whole batch becomes pending production orders on your daily calendar, working from then on exactly like a direct manual production.
