What are tasks in the production area, what are they for and how do you manage them?
Tasks are operational actions or obligations — for example maintenance and hygiene — that are not part of a recipe costing or recipe: cleaning machinery, disinfecting ovens, maintaining burners or checking the cold room. These tasks, which need to be planned and monitored daily within the kitchen workload, can be recorded in the production module.
Step-by-step: add a task to your day
Go to "Management" and click "Production". Select the date on your calendar.
Click the three-dot menu and select "Add task".
Type a descriptive name for the action to be carried out. You can also add a station and a description, then click "OK".
The task appears on the daily panel next to the recipe production orders.
How to start, adjust and finish a task
Once the task is created in the production module, you must process its real execution in the kitchen following these steps:
Find the task in the daily list and click the "Start" button. The system automatically records the timestamp (start time).
You can add a section, a sub-section and the employee who carried out the task. You must first create the stations and sub-stations in the "Sections" section and your employee profiles in the "Staff management" section.
Once the steps are complete, click "Finish", which records the task’s finish time.
How to organise kitchen work with sections and sub-sections
To stop the whole kitchen team from seeing one massive list of mixed tasks and recipes, tspoonlab lets you segment the daily panel using sections (physical or functional divisions of the kitchen such as Cold Section, Hot Section, Pastry or Packaging).
Recommended setup: it is good practice to preset the section and sub-section directly on each recipe’s technical sheet. That way, every time that recipe is sent to production, it is automatically classified in its corresponding section.
To do it, follow this short step-by-step:
Operational filtering: at the start of the day, employees can use the "Section" filter on the main screen to see only the tasks, recipes, dishes and supplies that belong to their specific area of responsibility, improving coordination in the kitchen.
To do it, follow this short step-by-step:
